Opera Walks into a Bar

*event postponed*

say hello to one of opera’s most popular characters – a good drink

What’s that? Another new event? You betcha. We’re popping up for a couple of very special performances at Peckham Bussey Building in April. Expect a healthy dose of opera, washed down with a drink. Or five…

We’ve sadly had to postpone this event. You can find out more details here.

All the best jokes start in bars. Some of our best anecdotes start with a drink, as do half our relationships and possibly just as many of our breakups. We pop corks to celebrate and we cry into wine.

And drink is one of opera’s most popular characters. It pops up all over the place – in dimly lit cellars, at extravagant cocktail parties and as bottles of poison.

As the big finale to our Serena Fenwick programme, we’re recreating opera’s best drinking moments. Under the incomparable creativity of director Daisy Evans, our singers will take you to the rowdiest taverns, the glitziest parties and possibly even a teashop or two. Get yourself a pint and join us.
