Introducing our 2020 Summer Season

Listen up, we’ve got some very exciting news. We’ve just announced what our 2020 summer season will look like and there are a couple of big changes for lil’ old BYO.

For the first time ever, we’re going to the Hackney Empire. It’s a beautiful space with an excellent opera pedigree - English Touring Opera have been going for a long time, and Scottish Opera, English National Opera and the Royal Opera House have popped up there more recently.

A new space means we’re able to take on repertoire that we haven’t been able to before – namely Poulenc’s The Breasts of Tiresias and Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. We’re parcelling up both operas as a double bill under the title of 'Happy Families’. So for the price of one ticket you get to see two shows and two casts and backstage crews who are right at the beginning of their professional opera careers.

Performances are on 10, 12 and 13 September 2020. Priority booking for BYO Friends is now open with tickets going on general sale at noon on Friday 21 February.
