If you’re wondering why we’ve gone a bit quiet
Like we’ve said before, we’re still hoping to do our summer season as planned, but it’s a funny old time and we’re having to be quite flexible. At the moment there is a reduced team at BYO HQ, so we’re having to press pause on a few bits and pieces. In that time you might notice that we’re a bit quieter online and a bit slower to reply to emails or messages.
If you have applied or are going to apply for a summer training programme then you can really help us out by reading what’s below. Please try to resist the temptation to contact us asking about your application or our summer season in general until June – that’s when we’ll hopefully have our full team back in action and be able to hit play again. Until then we’re going to be pretty stretched, so we’re asking for your patience and support.
If you’ve been offered a place
Firstly, congratulations! You won’t hear from us now until probably late May or early June, but we’ll be in touch with more details then.
If you’ve applied but haven’t heard anything
Thanks for the application. We’ve received a lot of them and have extended a couple of deadlines until the end of May, so you’ll hear back from us sometime in June but not before then. If you submitted an application then you can trust that we’ve got it. We’re confident that our application system is watertight.
If you’re thinking about applying
Do it! BYO has helped thousands of people build careers in loads of different areas of the opera industry – taking part will expand your skills, give you valuable experience and help you make professional connections. Lots of people like you have found their plans for the summer have changed, so we’ve extended a few deadlines to give you longer to apply.
If you’re waiting for applications to open for your department
Applications for some departments, like costume, lighting or hair and makeup, open a bit later than others. They’ll appear on the website from June onwards, so resist the temptation to get in contact to ask about them. Instead, you can sign up for updates to hear about opportunities in your chosen field.
Thank you!
